Star: HRVY, 21, has revealed that he is ‘buzzing’ to perform on Strictly Come Dancing after he has recovered from coronavirus and told the meaning behind his name
During the highly-anticipated pre-recorded launch show for the 18th series, HRVY told co-host Tess Daly: ‘I can’t believe I made it this far. I am fine – I did test positive for coronavirus but I isolated with my family and we followed the Government guidelines and I am here! So I’m buzzing.
‘I am very nervous, I genuinely am but I am going to give it my best go and hopefully my hips don’t lie!’
The online sensation revealed how he has 4.5million followers on Instagram but described that he ‘doesn’t know’ why he is so popular on the social media channel.

Speaking about his unusual moniker, he said: ‘My mum and dad spelt it H-a-r-v-e-y so, you know, the right way you would say.
‘But when I was 17 I thought: “Do you know what? I need to be a bit cooler.” So I thought why not just take the vowels out of my name.
‘Hopefully it looks cool, I mean I think it looks cool, but I am biased.’
HRVY revealed how he is normally the first on the dance floor, adding: ‘I’d like to think that I have got a bit of rhythm and at a party I am the one that is definitely going to be on the dance floor – my hips don’t lie.
I’m back! HRVY has announced he is ‘free from Covid’, eight days after he revealed he had tested positive for the virus
‘As you can tell I probably don’t go to the gym at all but the one I thing I have been scared about is doing the lifts.’
HRVY took to Twitter last Thursday to announce he tested negative for coronavirus after being told by doctors to spend 14 days in isolation.
He said: ‘He’s free from Covid, he’s a free elf now… thank you for all the kind messages, I tested negative today so I’m back, love you guys and see you all soon.’
Brave face: A smiling HRVY didn’t seem too bothered by his test results but admitted he was bored as he has to stay in his bedroom for the next fourteen days in a video last week
The social media star celebrated the news by sharing a slew of snaps of himself jumping in puddles in his white Nike Air Forces.
While many of his fans took to the comments to send their well-wishes to HRVY, others said getting drenched in the rain wasn’t the wisest way to celebrate.
One wrote: ‘You’re covid free but you’re gonna get pneumonia if you stand out in the rain in puddles’, while another added: ‘Okay now please go inside, we don’t want you getting it’.

However a source previously said his positive test was ‘the worst-case scenario for Strictly, as they’ve gone to extreme lengths to make the show safe up to this point’.
A spokesman for the show insisted all celebrities on the show are ‘tested regularly’ and claimed that the positive test has had ‘minimal impact on production’.
A smiling HRVY confirmed in a social media video last week that he was asymptomatic, but admitted he was ‘bored’ because he has to stay in his bedroom for the next 14 days.
He said: ‘Hi guys, so I wasn’t going to say anything cause I didn’t want to worry anybody, or be dramatic, but I’ve got coronavirus, I’ve tested positive, all is fine.’
‘I’m isolating. I have no symptoms luckily, so I’m just chilling, I’m bored. I’ve been making Tik Toks if you haven’t seen already but it just proves that us youngsters, we can get it and not even realise so for now stay safe.
‘I’m fine, I’m chilling but I’m going to be in this bedroom for the next ten days or two weeks. I think it’s two weeks. I’m not sure but I’m going to be here for a while so I guess I’ll see you guys on the other side.’
After it was announced HRVY had coronavirus, he tweeted: ‘Morning guys, just a little thought. I’m only 21 and in good health so it just shows that being young doesn’t make you invincible, so make sure you wear a mask please, have a good day.’
Celebrities including Nicola Adams, Jamie Laing and Maisie Smith discovered which professional dancer would put them through their paces in the upcoming weeks on the opening Saturday show.
The pairings were revealed as Nicola and Katya Jones, Jamie and Karen Hauer, Maisie and Gorka Marquez, Caroline Quentin and Johannes Radebe, Jason Bell and Luba Mushtuk, and Max George and Dianne Buswell.
